President Donald Trump launched the Great American State Fair on Wednesday evening, celebrating America’s achievements under his leadership. He compared his political movement to the American Revolution during his speech on the National Mall.
“Similar to the revolutionaries of 1776, in the last 17 months, we’ve reclaimed power from distant political elites,” Trump stated to the audience in Washington, D.C. for the opening event. “They’re attempting to regain control, but that won’t happen. We’ve restored our sovereignty, our liberty, our prosperity, and saved our country in all respects. We’re prioritizing America once again.”
Trump entered the event as Lee Greenwood performed “God Bless the U.S.A.” during the ceremony celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary. His address followed military demonstrations, including flyovers by B-2 bombers and F-35 jets, as well as speeches by Trump Cabinet members and music from the U.S. Marine Band.
President Trump emphasized, “America is back,” to an enthusiastic crowd. “We’re the most admired country globally. No one is mocking us anymore.”
Trump highlighted efforts to renovate the capital, mentioning the removal of homeless encampments and graffiti. Over 50 monuments and memorials have been repaired and improved, and several statues cleaned since he resumed office. Renovations have also targeted Union Station, Meridian Hill Park, Lafayette Square, and the Reflecting Pool. “Vandals can’t undermine our nation,” Trump proclaimed. “Most offenders have been caught and are facing prosecution.”
He also previewed projects associated with the anniversary, including plans for a new White House ballroom and a triumphal arc near Arlington Cemetery. Other initiatives include the National Garden of American Heroes in West Potomac Park and a “Spirit of ’76” exhibit at Freedom Plaza.
Trump framed the milestone’s occasion as a dual recognition of America’s founding and the beginning of a new “golden age.” Preparations for the Freedom 250 Great American State Fair are ongoing on the National Mall, featuring 150 exhibits from every state and territory.
Trump concluded, “This anniversary is about pride in our past and setting lofty ambitions for America’s future.” He assured, “The best is yet to come.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson, along with various officials and Congress members, joined Trump for the event. Describing the ceremony as exceptional, Trump inaugurated the fair.
The fair, running until July 10, will display all 50 states and six U.S. territories, with events like military flyovers, patriotic music, high-tech showcases, and an “old fashioned rodeo.”
“You’re getting a sneak peek tonight,” Trump commented after the flyovers. “The U.S. Air Force is exceptional.”
Trump announced plans for a grand Fourth of July celebration on the National Mall with the world’s largest fireworks display. Additional events include the Patriot Games, a high school athletic competition, and a Freedom 250 Grand Prix race around the Capitol.
Concluding, Trump highlighted America’s history and future, citing figures like the Founding Fathers, Patrick Henry, and historic events. “This is our heritage and history, and America is destined to be the greatest nation,” Trump declared. “We are one people, under one flag, moving forward into a magnificent future.”
With a final salute, Trump wished America a happy birthday.
