Trump Supports Jennifer Balkcom for North Carolina’s 11th District

Donald Trump, former President of the United States, has endorsed Jennifer Balkcom, a North Carolina state representative, as the Republican nominee for the state’s 11th Congressional District. Balkcom stepped in to run this month following the withdrawal of incumbent Rep. Chuck Edwards, who was also supported by Trump.

Trump praised Balkcom in a Truth Social post, calling her an ‘America First Patriot’ and expressing confidence in her ability to represent the district. Balkcom expressed her gratitude in a post on X, emphasizing her commitment to working for the people of Western North Carolina.

“THANK YOU, President Trump! I’m incredibly grateful for your support, and I’m proud to stand and fight for the people of Western North Carolina. In Congress, I’ll work with you to continue rebuilding WNC after Helene, deliver real results for our communities, and fight to make life more affordable for hardworking families. I’m ready to get to work,”

She wrote, adding an American flag emoji.

Before dropping out, Edwards had won the Republican primary decisively on March 3 in the 11th Congressional District. However, he announced his withdrawal from the re-election campaign on August 5 following a report by the House Committee on Ethics.

The report suggested censure for Edwards due to “persistent unprofessional and inappropriate conduct towards two young female staffers.” Though Edwards denied any sexual or romantic intent, the report detailed actions such as giving lavish gifts and spending time outside of work settings.

Alex Nitzberg, a writer for Fox News Digital, provided additional context on the situation.
