There was considerable speculation before President Donald Trump’s speech on Thursday night regarding whether he would revisit the 2020 election issues in Georgia. Trump had narrowly lost the state to Joe Biden during that election.
Both Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, despite being Republicans, opposed Trump’s efforts to persuade them to reverse the election outcome in Georgia. In 2023, Trump faced indictment due to these endeavors, but the charges were later dismissed.
