On the night leading into Thursday, Russian attacks across Ukraine resulted in significant casualties and damage. At least eight people were killed, and dozens were wounded, according to Ukrainian officials. The eastern Dnipropetrovsk and western Lviv regions reported the heaviest casualties.
Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, confirmed strikes in several regions, including Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Ivano-Frankivsk. The attacks severely damaged or destroyed various homes, businesses, and infrastructure facilities. Russia launched more than 70 missiles, many of them ballistic, along with over 280 attack drones. Ukrainian forces intercepted more than 260 drones.
Zelenskyy stated, “This Russian terror once again proves that protection against the Russian missile threat is the most important task when it comes to saving the lives of our people.” He urged allies to provide more anti-ballistic missiles.
During the attacks, Poland responded by scrambling fighter jets. Polish authorities reported finding a crater and debris in a field after losing radar contact with an unidentified object in Polish airspace during the Russian strikes.
The Dnipropetrovsk region witnessed a mass attack, killing six individuals, including children aged 6, 11, and 17, and wounding ten others. Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the regional military administration, reported damage to civilian infrastructure. Zelenskyy shared on social media that several children were rescued from the rubble.
In the Poltava region, a drone strike killed one person and hit warehouses at a private enterprise. Vitalii Diakivnych, the regional head, noted that a delivery hub was attacked, sparking a fire that was quickly controlled with no further injuries.
In Lviv, the missile attack injured 30 people, said Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the regional military administration. The rescue operation is ongoing, with significant damage to residential buildings, schools, and kindergartens.
Kyiv also faced missile strikes. A 31-year-old man was killed, and two others were wounded, with damages to residential structures and vehicles. In the Kyiv region, additional injuries occurred in Brovary district.
Moscow’s Defense Ministry announced strikes on air bases, arms factories, and military facilities in multiple Ukrainian regions. Ships in Odesa’s proximity were hit.
Russia claimed to have downed 258 Ukrainian drones overnight. Penza Governor Oleg Melnichenko reported that Ukrainian strikes hit depots belonging to Wildberries, causing fires and evacuations.
