University of Maryland student Dilan Shaan Ashar was found after an extensive search lasting several days. On Wednesday evening, he appeared from the woods and approached a search-and-rescue vehicle.
The 22-year-old had been missing for six days, with his last confirmed sighting on October 2 near a parking garage adjacent to a dense woodland area. Upon approaching the vehicle, Ashar reportedly asked, “Are you looking for me?” His disappearance prompted a wide search effort by local authorities and volunteers.
The news of his safe return brings relief to both the university community and Ashar’s family, who had been anxiously awaiting his recovery.
