Judge Tony Graf of Utah’s Fourth District Court is currently at the center of one of the nation’s most scrutinized cases. Appointed in August 2025, he is deciding whether a trial will proceed for Tyler Robinson, accused of murdering conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Graf previously served as a prosecutor in Davis County and Utah County, where Kirk was killed last year. Governor Spencer Cox praises Graf’s qualifications, highlighting his steady hand and strong ethics. Graf’s academic background includes a bachelor’s and law degree from the University of Utah, along with a master’s degree in criminal justice from Weber State University.
Since taking the bench, Graf has handled cases involving serious issues such as child sexual abuse and threats to high-ranking officials. This week, Graf is conducting hearings to assess the evidence against Robinson, with proceedings expected to last several days.
