Victor Wembanyama’s Play Raises Questions in NBA Finals Game 3

Victor Wembanyama’s conduct on the court came under scrutiny during Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

In the first half, an altercation arose when Knicks guard Jalen Brunson tried to guard the imposing 7-foot-4 center near the free throw line. Wembanyama placed his hand on Brunson’s head, pushing him to the court.

No foul was called against Wembanyama, and play continued with the Knicks maintaining possession. This incident stirred debate as it mirrored a situation from Game 2, where Brunson’s backup, Jose Alvarado, faced similar aggressive play from Wembanyama.

The Spurs, known for a physical style, seemed to benefit as no fouls were called on Wembanyama in these scenarios. Observers argued that the lack of calls was surprising given the forceful nature of Wembanyama’s play.

In a strong start, San Antonio held an 11-point lead by the end of the first quarter. Yet, the resilient Knicks rallied back quickly, claiming a seven-point advantage by halftime.

Brunson played a key role in this turnaround, scoring 15 points with five successful field goal attempts out of 11. He also contributed three assists and one rebound during the first half.

Wembanyama matched Brunson’s scoring with 15 points, connecting on six out of ten field goal attempts. He also added four rebounds and three assists to his performance.

The stakes are high as the Spurs aim to avoid a 3-0 series hole, while the Knicks are eager to leverage their momentum for a potential sweep with a Game 4 win at home.
