A mom of two has attracted online attention after sharing unexpected messages from her ex-husband. Maddie Muhs, 33, posted screenshots on Instagram from her co-parent, showing cooperative post-divorce communication. ‘I feel like divorce and co-parenting always is so negative online,’ Muhs told Newsweek. ‘I wanted to share some light on relationships that end but are still healthy.’
In one message, her ex-husband reminded her of trash and recycling pickup, offering help to carry things to the curb. Another message offered help with car maintenance. He also expressed concern for her safety when traveling alone, showing a father’s protective instincts. A message of support read, ‘They know you love them. You’re a great mother.’
The post rapidly gained popularity, receiving over 70,000 likes and shares. Muhs explained that their co-parenting relationship centers on a shared commitment to their children, though it has not always been easy. ‘Divorce is hard on anyone, but at the end of the day, we have to put our kids first,’ she shared. As initial tensions faded, both parents recognized the benefits of a positive relationship for their children’s well-being.
Muhs views the relationship with her children’s father as essential, despite their marital separation. Many comments applauded the healthy dynamic. One user noted, ‘Better than some people WHILE married.’ Others appreciated the inspiration, with comments like ‘Thank you for sharing this is possible.’
Many people are surprised by their harmonious co-parenting arrangement, often asking if they plan to reunite. Muhs said, ‘We don’t really care if anyone understands it though. It works for us.’
