Democracy Dies in Darkness

The state of Virginia has become a focal point for understanding the hibernation patterns of black bears. Researchers at Virginia Tech have been engaged in a dedicated study to uncover the various factors influencing these animals during their hibernation period.

Commencing over a year ago, scientists stationed at Virginia Tech have observed and analyzed black bears within a specialized bear-monitoring center situated on their campus in Blacksburg. Their objective is to gain insight into the behaviors of bears as they prepare for their iconic hibernation season.
