With only nine games remaining in the season, the Washington Nationals find themselves with limited objectives to pursue. A recent 3-0 defeat against the Philadelphia Phillies confirmed their exclusion from playoff contention. This marks their sixth consecutive season with a losing record.
Despite the overall disappointing performance, certain players continue to capture attention. Right-handed reliever Riley Cornelio has emerged as a promising talent within the bullpen. His development could provide the team with a valuable asset moving forward.
For players at the periphery, the remaining games still offer significant opportunities. Individual performances can impact future contracts and roles within the organization. For those striving to secure their place, the end of the season becomes a crucial proving ground.
