The 78th Emmy Awards will take place on Monday night, hosted by Mariska Hargitay, star of Law & Order: SVU. The ceremony will feature 19 awards, including categories for top comedy series and top drama series, as well as awards for best actor and actress.
Preceding Events
Earlier this month, the Television Academy expanded the Creative Arts Emmys into a two-night event. This celebration highlighted casting, guest actors, game shows, documentaries, and the vital craftspeople working behind the scenes. Rob Reiner was posthumously honored with his third Emmy for a guest spot on The Bear. Hargitay, the host of the upcoming event, recently won two awards for her documentary, My Mom Jayne.
Broadcast Information
The Emmy Awards will air live on NBC and Peacock starting at 8 p.m. ET, 5 p.m. PT. There is also a pre-show on E! that begins at 5 p.m. ET, 2 p.m. PT, featuring live coverage.
Nominations
Nominations this year include well-known shows such as Hacks, Abbott Elementary, and The Bear for the top comedy series. New contenders like Widow’s Bay and Margo’s Got Money Troubles have also been recognized. For drama series, last year’s winner The Pitt will compete with titles like Pluribus, Slow Horses, and The Diplomat. Several actors from The Pitt have received their first nominations. Dale Dickey and Kate O’Flynn are also first-time nominees for their roles in Widow’s Bay.

Special Highlights
Noah Kahan will perform “Bridge Over Troubled Water” during the In Memoriam segment. Presenters for the night include Alan Cumming, Sally Field, Jon Hamm, Marcello Hernández, Niecy Nash-Betts, Keke Palmer, Amy Poehler, Florence Pugh, Rachel Sennott, and Zendaya.
