The White House engaged with leading technology companies on Tuesday, outlining a proposed framework for assessing cutting-edge artificial intelligence systems for cybersecurity concerns. These discussions aimed at introducing a process for government evaluation of new AI models.
According to officials, the framework will concentrate primarily on advanced technologies developed by major U.S. tech firms, such as OpenAI and Anthropic. In contrast, certain AI systems, referred to as ‘open weight’ models, will not be subject to this review process. This decision allows these free tools to operate without the scrutiny that will be applied to other models.
The White House does not plan to release the comprehensive details of the framework publicly. Instead, the focus will be directed at ensuring that the most advanced AI systems are robust against cybersecurity threats.
