Will Levis Seeks NFL Redemption

Will Levis is making a return to the NFL, leaving behind his rocky journey with the Tennessee Titans. He now joins the New York Jets, a team that offers an environment conducive to growth and improvement.

New Opportunity with the Jets

The Jets have signed Levis to their practice squad, according to various reports. This decision accompanies the anticipated release of Bailey Zappe. Despite this move, the Jets do not intend to replace Geno Smith, their current starter. With rookie Cade Klubnik as backup, bringing in someone like Levis, who has potential, adds depth to the position.

Levis is now considered experienced, though still a potential talent. He needs to overcome the issues that led to his release from the Titans.

The Rise and Fall at Tennessee

Levis entered the NFL as a promising yet enigmatic prospect, selected 33rd overall in the 2023 draft by Tennessee. His debut showed promise with four touchdowns in a win against Atlanta. However, an ankle injury disrupted his rookie season, followed by struggles with turnovers and reliability.

He concluded his first year displaying flashes of great arm strength, but his 2024 performance showed inconsistencies, leading to 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The Titans’ dismal record of 2–10 in his starts compounded the challenges. A shoulder injury in 2025 required surgery, further setting back his career.

Coaching Support at the Jets

Now 27, Levis is in need of quality coaching. The Jets’ coaching staff brings a wealth of experience to aid his development:

  • Frank Reich: Former quarterback coach for Peyton Manning during his MVP and Super Bowl years. Coached Philip Rivers in multiple tenures and Andrew Luck during a 39 TD season.
  • Bill Musgrave: Established a successful pattern with Matt Ryan and led Derek Carr to Pro Bowl appearances.

While Levis is not pegged as the future of the Jets’ quarterback position, coaching can significantly aid in refining his skills and decision-making.

The Path Forward for Levis

As he steps into a crucial career phase, Levis remains a talent with significant arm strength. His challenge lies in proving his decision-making and health can match his physical abilities, convincing teams of his potential in the NFL.
