An NFL quarterback searches for a fresh start as the regular season approaches following a challenging beginning to his career.
Will Levis, drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, appeared in 21 games for the Titans. However, after Cam Ward was selected as the No. 1 draft pick in 2025, the Titans decided to waive Levis. According to multiple reports, Levis is expected to clear waivers and enter free agency this week. He reportedly wished to be released from Tennessee.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler shared on social media, “Titans waiving QB Will Levis, as Tom Pelissero said. I’m told Levis wanted out. Gets the fresh start he coveted.”
Levis recorded a 5-16 starting record for Tennessee, with 3,899 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. During training camp, Levis expressed that he has matured since entering the league. He now feels he has the confidence needed to excel as a quarterback in the NFL.
“I feel like I worked a lot for other people’s approval at the beginning of my career whereas I am just trying to be the best version of me at this point,” Levis stated via the Titans. “And I have more confidence than I’ve ever had because of that. I don’t need to go out there and win a certain number of games to feel the confidence; I have the confidence right now.”
Levis believes he has demonstrated his skills and capability as a quality quarterback and regards himself as improved from earlier in his career.
With this waiver, Levis has an opportunity to prove his abilities on another team and must climb the ranks of the depth chart for his future team.
Former Titans quarterback Malik Willis experienced a career resurgence after being drafted in the third round in 2022. Having served as a backup for the Green Bay Packers in 2024 and 2025, Willis became the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins during the offseason. Levis hopes to achieve a similar turnaround in his career.
