Caitlin Clark seemed set to face a one-game suspension after receiving what was initially her eighth technical foul of the season. However, the WNBA intervened promptly. The league rescinded the technical foul assessed to the Indiana Fever star during their victory over the Chicago Sky, eliminating the penalty that would have automatically sidelined Clark for one game.
If the technical foul had remained, Clark would have missed Tuesday’s game against the New York Liberty. This absence would have significantly impacted Indiana, especially as the Fever continue their competitive season campaign.

A WNBA spokesman informed The Associated Press that the technical was overturned a few hours after the game concluded. In the third quarter, Clark made contact with a referee while being forced out of bounds, leading to a technical foul call as the Fever eventually secured a 90-86 win.
Caitlin Clark has been vocal about the need for full-time WNBA referees due to ongoing officiating concerns in 2026. She quickly advocated for the technical foul to be removed, arguing that the contact with the referee was accidental and did not escalate verbally.

“She said I ran into her,” Clark mentioned regarding the referee. “I have already watched it on the tape. So, we’ll let the league decide. But, it wasn’t anything intentional or anything. So, I hope it gets rescinded. And, nothing was said.”
