Workers Remove Trump’s Name from Kennedy Center After Court Ruling

Workers have begun removing Donald Trump’s name from the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. This action follows a federal appeals court’s decision that denied a last-minute appeal to keep Trump’s name on the building. His name had been added after a unanimous board vote in December.

On Friday, workers erected scaffolding around the iconic landmark and initiated the removal process. The building, known as the “Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for The Performing Arts,” had Trump’s name affixed in recognition of claimed accomplishments in saving the institution from financial issues and potential destruction.

The court’s ruling against an immediate administrative stay came despite the Kennedy Center board’s efforts to prevent the removal. They had filed both a stay pending appeal and an emergency appeal to block the court’s decision, although both were denied.

In a ruling by U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper, it was noted that the center’s name could be altered only through an act of Congress. Trump’s reaction to the decision was strong, criticizing the judge on Truth Social while mentioning connections to high-profile Trump critics.

As the removal of Trump’s name proceeds, a worker on a lift was seen in conjunction with the ongoing changes at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.
