Spencer Pratt Criticizes Karen Bass Amidst Los Angeles Homelessness Controversy

Spencer Pratt, a candidate for Los Angeles mayor, responded critically to Mayor Karen Bass’s remarks on homelessness. He labeled Bass and her supporters as ‘alleged criminal partners’ in the city’s ongoing crisis. Former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany has highlighted a report revealing that $418 million has been spent on the homelessness issue, with only 10% effectively used to reduce street homelessness.

Pratt’s criticism is fueled by allegations of corruption and mishandling funds meant for the crisis. He has also commented on the mistreatment of animals on Skid Row and emphasized his mission to transform Los Angeles into a safer city for mothers and children through his faith-driven efforts. His campaign has been gaining momentum in recent polls, positioning him strongly against Bass.

During a segment on ‘Saturday in America,’ Pratt addressed Bass’s earlier statements about resistance within the homelessness system. He believes these comments support his view that some individuals and organizations benefit from the ongoing crisis, which continues to afflict the city.

“The NGOs that are stealing billions of our tax money to increase drug addicts naked on our sidewalks. She’s complicit,” Pratt asserted about Bass, accusing these entities of obstructing genuine reform.

The controversy stems from a CNN interview with Bass during which she discussed the difficulties in meeting her 2026 homelessness reform goals. Bass cited bureaucratic inertia as a substantial barrier to addressing the issues effectively.

In his response, Pratt accused the current Los Angeles administration and its partners of resisting reform for financial gain. “The mayor and these NGOs let seven of them die on the sidewalk a day in their own feces. So, yeah, these people are evil,” he added.

Pratt has promised rigorous oversight into homelessness issues, aiming to instill accountability and transparency in the use of public funds. “Why I will be one of the most successful mayors in the history of the country is because I’m [going to] have full accountability and transparency for every dollar of our tax money,” he stated, emphasizing his commitment to reform.

Pratt declared his candidacy in January, gaining public support following the Palisades Fire, which destroyed his home in 2025. He has leveraged his social media presence and debate performances to bolster his campaign.

Earlier in the week, Pratt accused Bass of breaching election laws. He claimed Bass campaigned too close to a voting location, an act prohibited by California law. A representative for Bass countered these allegations, suggesting Pratt’s complaints were unfounded and politically motivated.

A spokesperson for Bass argued that the accusations lack merit, citing sufficient distance from voting areas during campaign activities. Pratt’s attorney has called for an official investigation into the matter.
