Rod Stewart’s Las Vegas Shows Canceled Due to Illness

Rod Stewart canceled two scheduled performances at the Colosseum, Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. The rock star, 81, was to perform on May 29 and 30. Hours before the event, the shows were canceled.

The Las Vegas Review reported that a representative stated, “Following his doctor’s advice, Rod Stewart has regretfully canceled his performances.” Stewart is expected to resume on June 2.

Stewart apologized on social media, mentioning a sinus infection. “My apologies to my family of fans. I am on vocal rest as I recover. I look forward to seeing you at future shows,” he wrote.

“Rod Stewart postponed two concert dates at the last minute over health issues.”

Disappointed fans expressed their reactions online. Notifications of the cancellation were sent shortly before the show time. Some commented on potential issues with the venue.

Despite the health setback, Stewart has no plans to retire. After announcing a farewell tour in 2024, he clarified that he would continue performing without large-scale tours. “This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire,” he shared online.

Stewart emphasized his passion for music, saying, “I love what I do, and I do what I love.” He noted his fitness at 79, commenting on his ability to run 100 meters in 18 seconds.

In an interview last year, Stewart spoke about staying fit. He played soccer throughout his life, although a knee replacement has limited that activity. He’s trained by the same coach for 38 years.

Stewart maintains a “massive” gym and indoor pool, where he engages in underwater training. This involves diving to push a brick to the pool’s end.

The singer also practices 100-meter sprints on his private track. He aims for a record time, having reached 19 seconds. Stewart shared, “I’m going to try and do 17 seconds.”
