During his first term, Trump criticized previous administrations for their military engagements, labeling them a misuse of American resources. He emphasized this viewpoint in his 2019 State of the Union speech, stating, “Great nations do not fight endless wars.” While campaigning for a second term, he positioned himself as the “candidate of peace.” Yet, following his return, his administration initiated roughly twelve military operations worldwide.

His administration touted this as a reinforcement of counterterrorism efforts in the Horn of Africa. Concerns were rising about a potential jihadist resurgence in the region, prompting these actions.
