Humor and Politics: Late Night Reaction to L.A. Mayoral Race

Comedian Michael Kosta expressed skepticism following Spencer Pratt’s continuation in the Los Angeles mayoral race after the midterms. Kosta quipped about Pratt, a reality TV star, alluding to a potential long-term political stint.

A reality T.V. star running for office? Well, I’m sure if we make fun of him enough, he’ll only be in charge for 11 years, tops, Kosta remarked.

He pondered the state of the nation, jesting about the decline in book reading. Kosta also took aim at Pratt’s voter demographic.

Spencer Pratt is standing up for the rights of all hard-working voters who look like ecstasy dealers. And it’s about time someone spoke for older guys who hang around college parties where no one is sure who exactly brought them, added Kosta.

Fellow comedian Jimmy Kimmel weighed in as well. He noted the race’s development with current Mayor Karen Bass possibly facing Pratt in a runoff.

Barring a late ballot buzzer-beater, it appears that Mayor Karen Bass will advance to a runoff against the former reality show villain, said Kimmel. Sixty percent of the vote has been counted. If that holds, it means that in November, Los Angelenos will have to pick between a woman named Karen and a man who is one.

Kimmel also joked about Pratt’s suitability for mayor.

Spencer Pratt should not be a top two finalist for mayor. He should be D.J.ing the worst New Year’s Eve party in Reno right now, he stated.

He added that Pratt is filming a reality show about his candidacy.

Now, he’s unlikely to win. And in fact, he’s already filming a reality show about his run for mayor, so he definitely has his priorities in order, concluded Kimmel.

The Punchiest Punchlines (60 Minutes Edition)

Greg Gutfeld referenced recent changes at CBS.

So after firing a number of producers, CBS management also canned ‘60 Minutes’ anchor Scott Pelley. And it didn’t end there. They even terminated the ‘60 Minutes’ stopwatch, he quipped.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Fallon discussed the network’s decision and replacements.

CBS just fired longtime ‘60 Minutes’ correspondent Scott Pelley after he criticized his new bosses at the network. Yeah. The story gets more bizarre because today CBS announced they’re replacing Scott Pelley with Byron Allen, he observed.

Fallon also commented on CBS’s political shift.

CBS is getting more and more conservative to appease President Trump. But don’t be totally shocked when they replace ‘60 Minutes’ with the ‘Kid Rock/My Pillow Guy News Hour, joked Fallon.
