Mundelein Secures Win Over Oswego in State Semifinal

Mundelein’s junior second baseman, Devin Hill, delivered an impressive performance with two hits and three RBIs, leading his team to a 13-3 victory against the defending Class 4A champions, Oswego. The match took place at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex on Friday and concluded in six innings.

Hill contributed significantly with a run-scoring single in the first inning and a two-run single in the third. This helped the Mustangs, who hold a 23-5 record, to establish a commanding 8-0 lead over Oswego, which now stands at 22-12.

Senior center fielder Kieley Tomas also played a crucial role for the Mustangs, achieving three hits and three RBIs. Additionally, junior shortstop Taylor Pyke added to the team’s success with two hits and two RBIs.

Senior pitcher Shae Johnson made a strong comeback after her shoulder injury last season. She allowed three runs on six hits and issued one walk, while achieving nine strikeouts. Johnson played a vital part in bringing Mundelein to the state semifinals in 2024.

The Mustangs are set to face Lincoln-Way West, with a 29-7 record, in their first state championship game at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.
