The California Highway Patrol (CHP) closed all northbound lanes of the 101 Freeway near downtown Los Angeles in Boyle Heights on Thursday morning due to police activity. This closure occurred just before 9 a.m., north of 4th Street, leading to significant traffic congestion.
During the ongoing investigation, traffic was rerouted off the 4th Street exit. An officer-involved shooting on the 101 Freeway resulted in one person being hospitalized, as reported by KTLA.
The CHP has not provided additional details regarding the incident or the SigAlert. No immediate response was given by the department’s spokesperson to inquiries about the situation.
Footage from KTLA showed crime scene tape and numerous patrol cars on the freeway, with traffic stretching for miles. Police arrived at the scene around 7:30 a.m., and the SigAlert was issued at 8:55 a.m., according to CHP logs.
