Ongoing Harassment for Family of Slain Teen Austin Metcalf

The family of Austin Metcalf, a teenager murdered in Texas, continues to face harassment and threats more than a year after the tragedy. Jeff Metcalf, Austin’s father, shared the ongoing emotional and physical toll the situation has taken on them.

Ongoing Threats and Harassment

Jeff Metcalf stated that he and his family receive threatening messages regularly. “I wake up to vile messages every day,” he said. These threats also target Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, and others close to the family.

The Frisco Police Department confirmed they are investigating several online threats against the Metcalf family, but no arrests have been made yet. Police have increased patrols around the Metcalf residence to ensure their safety.

The harassment extends beyond the immediate family. Austin’s friends have faced hostility during court proceedings, with some being verbally attacked and intimidated.

Public Scrutiny and Misunderstandings

The case has sparked intense public debate, which Jeff Metcalf says often neglects the trauma experienced by young people who witnessed the incident. “Few consider the kids who saw it happen,” he said.

Metcalf believes footage of Austin’s fatal stabbing could dispel misinformation surrounding the event. “The video shows the confrontation was brief; there wasn’t a group attack,” he stated.

Controversial Fundraising Efforts

Online fundraising linked to Karmelo Anthony, the convicted killer, has attracted scrutiny. Following the stabbing, more than $600,000 was raised for the Anthony family. A new campaign was shut down after raising hundreds of dollars.

Jeff Metcalf voiced frustration with people profiting from false narratives about his son’s death, calling it “monetizing tragedy for clicks.”

A Father’s Pride

Amid the hardship, Jeff Metcalf expressed pride in his son Hunter, who testified during the trial. “You stood up as a man,” Metcalf recounted telling Hunter after his testimony.

The grief remains overwhelming for Metcalf as he supports Hunter through life without Austin. “It’s unimaginable to be without one of my sons,” he said tearfully.
