England Triumphs Over Croatia with Kane’s Record-Tying Performance

ARLINGTON, Texas — England emerged victorious in a thrilling match against Croatia, defeating them 4-2. Harry Kane was instrumental, scoring twice to equal the English record for World Cup goals. Jude Bellingham contributed to the victory with a goal early in the second half.

Kane’s first-half goals were countered by Croatia’s Martin Baturina and Petar Musa. Musa’s goal came just before the halftime whistle. However, England quickly regained the lead as the second half began.

Bellingham received a long pass, evaded the defender, and scored with a precise shot against Dominik Livakovic, which struck the far post before sinking into the net.

Later in the match, Marcus Rashford added another goal in the 85th minute, ensuring England’s win.

Harry Kane, known for winning the Golden Boot in the 2018 World Cup with six goals, has now tied Gary Lineker’s record of 10 World Cup goals. His impressive performance saw him score a second header goal off a corner kick from Declan Rice, further solidifying his prowess on the field.

Kane’s penalty kick was crucial. Initially thwarted by Livakovic, the kick was retaken after a video review showed Livakovic’s feet were off the line. With his second chance, Kane confidently aimed for the right post.

The penalty was awarded after Luka Modric fouled Noni Madueke, leading Kane to further cement his record with his 81st international goal.

Jude Bellingham nearly secured another goal shortly after his seventh international score, but Livakovic made several impressive saves during England’s relentless attack.

Petar Musa, representing Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas, scored from a header by Ivan Perisic, outplaying Jordan Pickford. Baturina also struck a powerful shot into the left corner past Pickford.

The match was held at the retractable-roof AT&T Stadium in Texas, offering respite from the humid heat for fans of both teams. English supporters donned white attire, while Croatian fans displayed their country’s trademark red-and-white checkered uniforms.

Looking ahead, England will face Ghana in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in Group L on Tuesday. Croatia is set to play against Panama in Toronto on the same day.
