Coast Guard Helicopter Crash in Alaska Injures Four Crew Members

A Coast Guard helicopter crashed in southeast Alaska during a routine training flight on Monday, injuring the four crew members aboard. The crash involved an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and occurred in a sparsely populated area near Harbor Mountain outside Sitka, Alaska, as reported by the Coast Guard. The incident was reported to the Arctic District command center shortly after 10 a.m.

Response and Rescue Efforts

Rescue teams from Sitka Fire and Rescue arrived at the crash scene around 11 a.m. and moved the injured crew members to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center for treatment. Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported following the incident.

We are incredibly relieved our crew members survived with only minor injuries.

The statement from Rear Adm. Bob Little, commander of the Coast Guard’s Arctic District, expresses relief over the crew members’ survival. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Other Recent Aircraft Crashes

This crash follows several other aircraft accidents this month. In Laredo, Texas, a business jet crashed on a highway Tuesday night, resulting in one death. Earlier this month, a tragic crash in Missouri during a skydiving outing killed 12 people. Meanwhile, a B-52 crashed during a test flight at Edwards Air Force Base in California, claiming the lives of eight individuals.
