Vice President JD Vance highlighted the United States’ advantage in ongoing negotiations in the Middle East during an exclusive interview on Tuesday. He emphasized that the Trump administration has already met its primary goal in Iran, regardless of the outcome of the discussions in Doha.
“We have all the cards in the negotiation,” Vance stated on “The Ingraham Angle.” While expressing a preference for a successful outcome, he stressed that even if the talks don’t succeed, the mission to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons has been accomplished.
Vance explained that successful talks would mean Iran is “permanently transformed,” without nuclear aspirations and no longer supporting proxies that have destabilized the region. Under these conditions, Iran could be reintegrated into the global economy.
“That’s a great outcome for the American people. It’s a greater outcome for the whole region,” Vance asserted.
He added that if Iran fails to cooperate, its nuclear and conventional military capabilities remain curtailed, maintaining America’s strong position relative to Iran.
Vance’s statements followed the arrival of US envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Qatar for discussions. However, reports indicate there will be no direct high-level meetings between US and Iranian representatives.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari informed reporters that there are no scheduled direct meetings between the parties. Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt mentioned that Iran had requested talks, echoing remarks by other Trump administration members, including President Donald Trump.
