Cole Hauser’s link to Montana extends beyond his role in the ‘Yellowstone’ franchise. He revealed to Fox News Digital that his family’s roots in Montana date back nearly 140 years. Hauser’s family has been in Montana since 1886. Samuel T. Hauser, Cole’s ancestor, was the seventh governor of Montana and played a significant role in the state’s early development through banking, mining, and railroads.
Hauser felt a deep connection to Montana while filming ‘Yellowstone’ because of his family’s historical ties. The original series, which debuted in 2018, turned Montana’s landscapes into a key element of the show. The vast mountain ranges and expansive skies became almost as iconic as the Dutton family itself.
Adam Duckworth, president of Travelmation, noted a trend called ‘set-jetting,’ where fans visit the sets of their favorite shows. ‘Yellowstone’ greatly influenced American travel, leading to a tourism boom in areas like Yellowstone National Park. With the franchise expanding into Texas through ‘Dutton Ranch,’ similar travel trends are anticipated there.
Cole Hauser believes Montana’s landscape and Taylor Sheridan’s storytelling have contributed greatly to the show’s success. Hauser witnessed the show’s global reach, noting fans dressing as cowboys in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
With the new setting in Texas, the experience for the cast changed significantly. Hauser and co-star Kelly Reilly aimed to maintain the beloved traits of their characters Rip and Beth. Although the environment and challenges in Texas differ, they remained focused on preserving the characters’ strong and loyal nature.
Texas, particularly areas like Ferris and Saunders Ranch, stands to benefit from the show’s impact on tourism. Travel advisors report a shift in demand from the Rocky Mountains to Texas, with audiences eager to experience life on a ranch as portrayed in the series.
Kris Porter from Travelmation noted a shift in travel preferences, with more people seeking luxurious ranch experiences. Instead of budget options, travelers now seek upscale, all-inclusive stays that combine rugged adventure with comfort. Attractions include high-end amenities and guided outdoor activities.
Texas offers a unique advantage with its warmer climate, allowing year-round tourism opportunities. This makes the state even more appealing as fans seek to immerse themselves in the ‘Dutton Ranch’ experience.
