Fourth of July Festivities at World Cup Match

The pregame festivities of the World Cup Round of 16 match between France and Paraguay at Philadelphia Stadium were remarkable. The stadium’s field was designed to resemble the American flag, with added performers and pyrotechnics setting the stage for an unforgettable event.

The Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale performed “America the Beautiful” in tribute to America’s 250th birthday.

A performance for the ages.

During the ceremony, smoke formed the U.S. flag while two young individuals delivered spoken word poetry. Their words celebrated America’s founding and its enduring spirit, particularly in the City of Brotherly Love.

“250 years ago, in this city, an idea found its voice,” the young man declared. “Not perfect. Not finished. But bold enough to believe in people,” the young woman added.

The focus was on the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These ideals have shaped America and contributed to the unifying spirit of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ceremonial Highlights

Additional elements of the ceremony included Miss Pennsylvania, Stephanie Skinner, dressed as Lady Liberty, and a Navy flyover.

The atmosphere was electrifying and provided memorable chills throughout the event.
