On a festive night in Los Angeles, the L.A. Memorial Coliseum hosted a Fourth of July benefit concert that brought together a diverse crowd. The event featured popular performers such as Chris Stapleton, Smashing Pumpkins, Chaka Khan, Maren Morris, and Queen Latifah.
Stapleton, admired across political lines, led the event. His performance included songs like ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ and ‘Millionaire’. The concert, organized by America250, aimed to raise funds for Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization.
“No politics — just purpose,”
declared America250 Chair Rosie Rios, emphasizing the event’s focus on unity over division. In contrast, a rival event in Washington D.C. led by President Trump was marked by political speeches.
Despite initial slow ticket sales, the concert venue was nearly full. Smashing Pumpkins captivated the crowd with their 90s hits. Billy Corgan’s performance of ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings’ stood out, resonating with younger audiences.
Chaka Khan delivered powerful renditions of ‘Ain’t Nobody’ and ‘Tell Me Something Good’. Maren Morris seamlessly transitioned between pop and country with her performances of ‘The Middle’ and ‘My Church’.
Queen Latifah, serving also as the host, shared messages of American spirit and performed her song ‘U.N.I.T.Y.’, uplifting the crowd with its message of respect.
