New Jersey Teen Charged with Murder in Tragic Hit-and-Run

An 18-year-old New Jersey man, Vincent Battiloro, faces adult murder charges for allegedly killing two teen girls. Authorities report that Maria Niotis and Isabella Salas, both 17, died in a deliberate hit-and-run while riding electric bikes in Cranford on September 29, 2025.

Battiloro reportedly went on a YouTube livestream one day after the incident. During the livestream, he commented on the engagement he received and the payment from YouTube. He appeared dismissive of critics, saying, ‘You guys engage in the chat, and I get paid.’

Later, Battiloro offered condolences to the victims, claiming there was misinformation online. ‘I wish my sincerest condolences to those two girls lost in that tragic accident. It is an unfortunate situation,’ he stated, promising to give more details when authorized.

Police utilized Battiloro’s dash camera to trace his actions on the incident day. The footage purportedly shows him in a Jeep Compass following the girls on Burnside Avenue, accelerating, and striking them at high speed before abandoning the scene on foot.

Initially, Battiloro’s identity was protected due to his minor status when the crimes occurred. However, his case moved to adult court on June 26, resulting in two first-degree murder charges.

Brent Bramnick, representing Maria Niotis’ family, expressed gratitude that the case is now in adult court. ‘We are thankful to the Prosecutor’s Office for their efforts,’ he stated, appreciating the community’s support in keeping the victims’ memories alive.

Bramnick also confirmed Battiloro’s previous harassment of Niotis’ family, alleging two swatting incidents in September 2025. He raised concerns about the police investigation after these reports, questioning the police response.
