In recent years, the stance on U.S. support for Israel has undergone significant changes. Sen. Lindsey Graham, who once embodied the longstanding consensus on this issue, now faces a shifting political landscape influenced by President Donald Trump’s policies.
On March 11, 2019, Sen. Graham, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, visited the border between Israel and Syria in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. This visit underscored the traditional alliance between the U.S. and Israel.
However, dynamics have started to change. Under Trump’s administration, the previously stable support for Israel among U.S. lawmakers has begun to evolve. This shift reflects a broader re-examination of foreign policy priorities.
While Sen. Graham often traveled to Israel when not in Washington or his home state of South Carolina, these visits are set against a backdrop of evolving diplomatic ties and domestic political pressures.
