Red Sox Match Longest Winning Streak with 15th Win Against Orioles

The Boston Red Sox secured their 15th consecutive win, tying a historic team record from 80 years ago. They defeated the Baltimore Orioles 6-3 in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

This victory matched the achievement of the 1946 American League champions, a team led by Ted Williams.

Jarren Duran played a key role with a two-run triple and a sacrifice fly. Caleb Durbin, who had previously hit a winning homer to cement their 14th victory, contributed a two-run single. Ceddanne Rafaela added a solo home run, rescheduled from a rainout on Tuesday.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand responded for Baltimore with a solo homer, his second in two games.

Jake Bennett, a rookie left-hander for the Red Sox, pitched 5 2/3 innings. He allowed three runs, including an RBI double assisted by the sun, delivered by Tyler O’Neill, and faced nine hits. Despite taking a hard liner off the stomach, Bennett continued playing after assessment by the trainer and interim manager Chad Tracy.

Aroldis Chapman closed the game, earning his 23rd save of the season. This marked his 390th career save, tying him with Dennis Eckersley for ninth place all-time.

The Red Sox established an early 4-0 lead. Durbin’s line single and Duran’s two-out hit set the momentum. Encarnacion-Strand’s homer in the fourth reduced the deficit to 5-2, but Rafaela’s shot over the Green Monster extended the gap again.

Dean Kremer, the Orioles’ starting pitcher, concluded his performance after six innings, conceding six runs.
