By July 27, 2026, a friend of Elizabeth Waddell, an American woman missing while vacationing on the island of Grenada, revealed the existence of a video capturing her last known movements. Elizabeth Waddell was seen on July 22 at Grand Anse Beach in St. George’s, the capital city of Grenada.
Amanda Romano-Harmon, a friend and the family spokesperson, reported that the Royal Grenada Police Force retrieved surveillance footage showing the 44-year-old from North Carolina heading to a pier and entering the water. “It shows her floating and swimming, but eventually she drifts out of the camera’s view, and that’s the last footage of Liz,” stated Romano-Harmon. Police have not made any surveillance images public regarding her disappearance.
Waddell’s vacation with her close friend Heather Poole was scheduled for three weeks. As per the family, she departed from their Airbnb around noon. When she did not return for several hours, Poole searched for her and discovered her towel but no other signs. “Liz had left in a swimsuit with a towel alone. No phone, ID, or shoes,” Romano-Harmon described the physical therapist as a generous individual.
Waddell’s husband, Cailen Waddell, joined by other family members, traveled to Grenada to assist in the search. He described her as a “loving free-spirit person” who easily made friends. The police are seeking information from boaters and local residents about anything unusual they might have noted regarding Waddell.
The State Department is aware of the reports concerning the missing American in Grenada, according to a spokesperson.
