Funeral Arrangements Announced for Late Senator Lindsey Graham

Funeral arrangements for the late Senator Lindsey Graham have been confirmed. Ceremonies are scheduled in Washington, D.C. and South Carolina. The senator, who passed away at 71 on July 11, served South Carolina as a Republican U.S. senator since 2003. He died from an aortic dissection, a serious condition involving a tear in the aorta.

Schedule of Services

On Tuesday, July 28, at 2 p.m. ET, a funeral service will take place at Washington National Cathedral. This service is by invitation only but will be live-streamed on the cathedral’s website and YouTube.

Earlier that day, Graham’s body will arrive at the U.S. Capitol with an Armed Forces Body Bearer Team. Inside the Rotunda, Capitol Police will form a memorial guard. This Capitol ceremony will also be available to the public via livestream.

On Wednesday, July 29, additional public tributes in South Carolina will begin at 10:45 a.m. ET. A procession will pass the South Carolina State House, proceeding to Columbia’s First Baptist Church for the public funeral. The service will start at noon, and doors will open at 10 a.m. ET. A private family burial in Pickens County will follow.

Darline Graham, Lindsey Graham’s sister and Senate successor, expressed gratitude for the support in organizing the ceremonies. She thanked the White House, Senate officials, and Washington National Cathedral for their assistance.

Several notable guests are expected to attend, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Their presence highlights Graham’s significant impact on U.S. foreign policy.

A White House official stated that President Trump will welcome both leaders at the White House on Tuesday. Discussions will include peace efforts between Russia and Ukraine and other international issues.

President Donald Trump will deliver a tribute during the Washington service. Fox News anchor Sean Hannity and Graham’s niece, Emillie Boggs Roberts, are also scheduled to speak.
