Remembering Matt McQuillan

McQuillan began his collegiate career with a scholarship at Oklahoma State in 2000 before transferring to the University of Georgia. Turning professional in 2003, he participated in 32 PGA Tour events, managing to make the cut nine times. His best performance on the Tour came in 2011 during the John Deere Classic, where his final round score of 64 earned him a tie for third place alongside Zach Johnson.
In September 2016, McQuillan made his last appearance in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event on the PGA Tour Canada circuit. His dedication to golf continued as a teaching professional in his hometown, inspiring the next generation of Canadian golfers.
Matty was a respected golfer, devoted son, hilarious brother, and friend. His passion and talent grew tremendously from the young age of ten, thanks to his father’s guidance.
According to an obituary in the Kingston Whig-Standard, McQuillan began as a junior on the Canadian Tour and reached the PGA in 2011. He forged lifelong friendships and mentored many who shared his love for the game.
