Molly Sims, a well-known model, recently spoke candidly about the misleading beauty advice often propagated in Hollywood. In an interview with US Magazine, the 53-year-old criticized the industry for not being truthful about how celebrities maintain their appearance.
Early on, other models would be straightforward. They’d say, ‘I’m getting shots,’ or ‘I’m only drinking grapefruit juice.’ However, Hollywood people often claim, ‘I drink lots of water and sleep eight hours,’ which is not the full truth,
Sims recounted a recent dinner with girlfriends where discussions were dominated by talk of facelifts. She emphasized the disconnect between Hollywood’s statements and reality. She believes it’s refreshing for people outside Hollywood to understand that beauty isn’t just about drinking water or sleeping well; modern treatments are also involved.
Sims reflected on how her perspective on beauty has evolved from her early modeling days. She entered the industry during a time known as ‘heroin chic,’ where being underweight was ideal. She described this era as harmful and emotionally taxing, stating it clashed with her own upbringing and norms.
I went from living a normal college life where eating fries happily was normal to an industry that demanded unhealthy weight standards, she shared.
Having left Vanderbilt University in the 1990s to pursue modeling, Sims gained major fame by featuring in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue starting in 2000. She continued to appear in multiple issues in the following decades.
Despite her long career, Sims has redefined her fitness goals. Now, she aims to maintain health rather than pursue youthfulness, expressing that her goal is to be healthy at every age.
In addition to her modeling work, Sims also shared on Instagram that she uses bone broth to support her health. She attributes benefits such as anti-aging, better digestion, joint health, and improved sleep to this practice.
