Investigation into New Jersey Woman’s Fatal Stabbing

Authorities in New Jersey are examining the events that led to the fatal stabbing of a woman in her Somerville residence. The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that Alyne Espinal, aged 46, was found with numerous injuries to her chest, neck, and thigh. She was declared dead at the scene.

Her husband, 55-year-old Ignacio Espinal, was apprehended in West New York, New Jersey. He faces first-degree murder charges in connection with his wife’s death.

Officers were alerted by a 911 call on Thursday evening, slightly before 7:30 p.m., reporting concerns about the well-being of a Brookside Avenue resident. Investigators discovered Alyne Espinal deceased from multiple stab wounds in a Somerville apartment.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office stated, “The following information is based on a preliminary and ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as investigators interview witnesses, review physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence.”

Ignacio Espinal is charged with first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and third-degree hindering.
