Alosco mentions, “We’ve applied what we’ve known worked for Alzheimer’s disease, but we’ve learned it does not work for CTE.”
Alosco emphasizes the need to find specific markers distinguishing CTE from Alzheimer’s. The research spreads across locations such as California, Arizona, and Texas, with more sites considered. Hasselbeck’s tests, including cognitive assessments and scans, underscore the value of such research.
Role of Volunteers
Nicholas Ashton, a principal investigator in Phoenix, reports slow but growing participation. Understanding CTE remains challenging as symptoms mirror Alzheimer’s, making current diagnoses speculative. Ashton believes more volunteers could expedite understanding and treatment, saying, “The more people involved, the more information we get.”

He hopes accurate diagnosis will facilitate treatment development, drawing encouragement from Alzheimer’s research, which advanced through decades of extensive studies.
Culture Change in NFL Regarding Head Injuries
