Adam Schefter, ESPN insider, will join NFL Network’s “The Insiders” weekly segment starting this fall. Schefter initially gained national recognition as an NFL insider when he worked for NFL Network from 2004 to 2009. His return marks his first appearance on the network since he left 17 years ago.
The news comes as part of ESPN’s new collaboration with NFL Network, following ESPN’s acquisition of a 10% stake in NFL Network. “The Insiders” is a prominent evening program on NFL Network, initially co-hosted by Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero, and Mike Garafolo. Pelissero has since moved on to roles with The Ringer and Netflix.
Sources indicate Schefter could act as a co-host for the show on Wednesdays. Other ESPN NFL reporters like Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano are also expected to join the program periodically.
In a move to feature talent across platforms, NFL Network personalities Ian Rapoport, Stacey Dales, Cynthia Frelund, Steve Smith, Kyle Brandt, and Gerald McCoy will appear on ESPN programming as well. Additionally, Molly McGrath and Mina Kimes are set to make selected appearances on NFL Network, such as their Sunday pregame show.
Recently, Schefter secured a multi-year contract extension with ESPN. Ian Rapoport also signed a long-term deal with the network. Both insiders will play significant roles in the networks’ broadcasts, including in ESPN’s upcoming Super Bowl presentation in February. Their presence will extend to shows like “Get Up,” “SportsCenter,” and the “Pat McAfee Show.”
