Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has put her support behind Florida Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Angie Nixon. This endorsement comes ahead of Nixon’s November face-off with Republican Sen. Ashley Moody.
“At a time when working families are struggling to make ends meet as the Administration prioritizes corrupt special interests, we need leaders who hold corporations accountable,” Ocasio-Cortez said through Nixon’s campaign.

Ocasio-Cortez praised Nixon for her stance on universal healthcare and childcare, and for proposing a national rent freeze. “Angie Nixon will be a strong advocate for Florida’s working families without relying on corporate PAC money. She built her campaign with community power and unwavering commitment to her values,” she added.
Nixon, a Florida state representative, is set to compete against Sen. Moody in the special Senate election. The seat became vacant after Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Moody to the Senate last year, following Marco Rubio’s departure to serve as Secretary of State.

Nixon expressed gratitude for Ocasio-Cortez’s endorsement, viewing it as a boost to her campaign. “Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez exemplifies putting people’s needs first, not wealthy interests. Florida is ready for such representation, and her support energizes our drive for change,” Nixon’s campaign stated.

In a recent Truth Social post, President Trump celebrated Lt. Col. Alex Vindman’s defeat to Nixon in the Senate primary, criticizing Vindman and praising Moody as a “Fantastic Senator” from Florida.
