Baptist Pastors Oppose Autonomous Vehicle Legislation in D.C.

As discussions about artificial intelligence continue, Baptist pastors are expressing concerns about autonomous vehicles in Washington, D.C. They are actively campaigning against a proposed bill that would permit driverless cars to operate commercially in the area.

Some religious leaders argue that these vehicles are antihuman. They claim that such technology contradicts human-centered values. According to the Rev. A. Michael Charles Durant from Tenth Street Baptist Church, these vehicles are inconsistent with the teachings of Jesus.

“Jesus either walked or rode a beast,” Durant mentioned during a conversation. “He would be against technology that conflicts with people, and I believe this does.”

The D.C. Council is currently reviewing the bill, which has sparked debate among residents and religious groups alike. The introduction of Waymo robotaxis in places like San Francisco adds context to the local discussions.
