Deion Sanders was visibly upset following Colorado Buffaloes’ 41-7 defeat to Northwestern. His discontent was evident in his interactions with the team.
Before playing Northwestern, some Colorado players were seen mocking the smaller crowd size. This marked the start of a difficult day for the Buffaloes.
Sanders expressed frustration with the players’ behavior after the game, saying, “I don’t understand how you can find joy or humor when I’m right behind you walking into the locker room.” He vowed to address the issue rigorously.
Though the team holds a 2-1 record, Sanders is cautious about potential negative trends and does not want the season to unravel as previous ones did. A few players, whose identities remain undisclosed, were asked to leave the team to prevent further distractions.
The team also faces a lingering effect from last season, which was challenging for the coaching staff. Sanders, emphasizing accountability, stated, “It’s never just one. When conduct becomes detrimental, and you don’t care about the team, I have a problem.” He aims to prevent issues from lingering.
As a result of this firm stance, safety Ben Finneseth publicly apologized for pregame comments captured on social media, admitting, “It was childish. It was a stupid thing I said. It won’t happen again.”
The Buffaloes prepare to face Baylor in their next game, where they seek redemption and hope to compete for a Big 12 title game appearance.
Details about the dismissed players will become clearer when the team releases a new depth chart.
