Personal and Financial Struggles
Brandi Glanville, known from “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” spoke candidly about her need to return to the workforce after facing considerable health and financial issues. Years of expensive health struggles altered her life, necessitating her to seek employment again. “I had the leisure of saying no in the past,” she shared with Fox News Digital, “but then I had all these medical bills.” This shift compelled her to accept work, motivated by a personal challenge to prove herself once more.
Financial Burden Due to Health Issues
“The medical system here is broken,” Glanville said.
Her financial difficulties, stemming from her health challenges, were overwhelming. Glanville revealed she depleted her 401(k) savings and spent hundreds of thousands on medical bills while seeking solutions. Despite having insurance, she expressed frustration at the lack of support, explaining creditors contacted her almost continually. As she moved into her mid-fifties, her financial safety net disappeared, creating a frightening situation.
Diagnoses and Treatment Costs
In September, Glanville disclosed a series of health diagnoses, including resistant ESBL Klebsiella, Enterobacter with biofilm, Valley fever, Demodex dermatitis, and mononucleosis. Her monthly IV treatment costs were anticipated to be between $3,300 and $6,000, reflecting the heavy burden of managing multiple infections.
Health Issues in Morocco
Glanville recounted a trip to Morocco in 2023, where she believed she contracted a parasite, leading to facial paralysis and a misdiagnosis of stress-related angioedema. She described spending over $70,000 in her quest for answers regarding this medical mystery that severely impacted her life.
Challenges on “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test”
Despite her health woes, Glanville chose to participate in “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.” A mishap during a helicopter challenge led to severe injuries. She recalled being instructed to keep her head up while preparing to fall into water, which resulted in a perforated eardrum, concussion, bruised sternum, and cracked rib after the impact. Her intense pain required a boat ride for hospital treatment because flying was deemed unsafe.
Recovery and Personal Triumph
Doctors advised Glanville to stay grounded due to her injuries, potentially for two weeks. However, after days of recovery, she insisted on leaving, regardless of medical advice against flying. Reflecting on the experience, she expressed pride in her perseverance. “Honestly, I’m so proud of myself,” she said. “I feel like a badass, even though I didn’t last long.” Her participation in the challenge marked a personal victory, despite the physical toll.
“Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” airs Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. ET on FOX.
