Rahm Emanuel’s Five-Point Plan for Ethics and Education Reform

Austin, Texas — During an interview with Fox News Digital, Rahm Emanuel, former White House Chief of Staff, discussed his proposed five-point plan aimed at improving government ethics and suggested insights for the Democratic nominee of 2028 to address education system challenges by learning from Republican-led states.

Five Simple Measures for Government Ethics

Emanuel detailed his measures intended to ensure elected officials prioritize the public interest:

  • Ban all stock trading across government branches.
  • Prohibit participation in prediction markets.
  • Impose mandatory retirement at age 75.
  • Require a mandatory blind trust for officials with a net worth exceeding one million dollars.
  • Tighten legal regulations on foreign gifts and investments.

The former mayor emphasized that these rules should apply uniformly across all branches of government.

Critical View on Education Policies

Emanuel criticized both political parties for their handling of education and acknowledged errors made by Democrats. He accused Republicans of abandoning public education, noting that while vouchers are promoted, they lack accountability. On the Democratic side, Emanuel reflected on the decision in 2012 to abandon core curriculum and accountability standards, stating this had negative repercussions for students.

“Our kids are paying a price for that,” Emanuel remarked. “That was wrong.”

Emanuel advocated for adjustments rather than abandoning tests, opposing the notion that disagreements over funding mechanisms merely mask opposition to teachers’ unions.

Learning from Successful Models

If considering a run for the Democratic nomination, Emanuel advised examining education successes in states like Mississippi and Louisiana. Both have shown improvements in education outcomes recently.

He expressed his commitment to scaling successful models regardless of political affiliations, emphasizing the importance of improving literacy and math scores among children.

To succeed in future competitive landscapes, Emanuel asserted the importance of not neglecting children’s education.

Emanuel’s potential candidacy for the Democratic nomination faces challenges, as current polling averages do not place him among the leading ten contenders. Former Vice President Kamala Harris is significantly ahead, with about 25% support among Democratic voters.
