The Dallas Cowboys experienced a tough loss against the Baltimore Ravens in Rio de Janeiro, clinched by a last-second field goal. Despite reaching the five-yard line with a chance to win late in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys had to settle for a game-tying field goal by Brandon Aubrey after failing to score a touchdown.
With only seven seconds left, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson made a crucial 27-yard pass to wide receiver Zay Flowers. He immediately called a timeout, leaving just one second on the clock. Kicker Tyler Loop then executed a successful 56-yard field goal, sealing Baltimore’s 34-31 victory.
Fans and analysts criticized the Cowboys’ defense for this late-game lapse. However, Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin attributed more responsibility to the Dallas offense. Speaking on ESPN’s “First Take,” Irvin expressed his disappointment, stating, “I’m way more disappointed in the offense. I am more disappointed in GOTI: The Greatest Offense There Is, not being the greatest offense there is.”
Quarterback Dak Prescott echoed Irvin’s sentiments, acknowledging the offense’s shortcomings. “Frustrated,” Prescott admitted. “Frustrated as hell. Excuse me. Embarrassed. We don’t call ourselves the best offense, GOTI, and get down to the one-yard line and don’t put it in. Yeah, it just sucks. Not a lot of words or full explanation of it. …”
Prescott emphasized the need for the offense to secure the game, asserting that the defense should not have faced the late-game pressure. “Those guys were over there saying ‘it’s on us,’ absolutely not. We’ve got to put the game away, period,” he concluded.
