Pete Davidson recently addressed a pressing issue with New York City’s Mayor Zohran Mamdani. On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the 32-year-old comedian voiced his frustrations regarding the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) to the 34-year-old mayor.
During his conversation with host Jimmy Kimmel, Davidson, a lifelong New Yorker, expressed his concerns about the ongoing construction on the BQE. This highway, running through Brooklyn and Queens, has been notorious for traffic congestion and outdated infrastructure.
Could he fix the ‘f—–g BQE, please?Davidson remarked, earning loud applause from the audience.
Kimmel informed the comedian that Mamdani would address these concerns during his appearance on the show. Davidson humorously highlighted the lack of visible progress at the construction site, noting workers often appeared to be idle.
Mamdani later responded to Davidson by outlining the BQE Central Project. This $4 billion initiative aims to rehabilitate the city-owned segment of the expressway between Atlantic Avenue and Sands Street by 2030. Mamdani assured that efforts would not disrupt local traffic and emphasized the project’s safety measures.
The late-night exchange also touched on Mamdani’s recent rise to the mayoral position due to his strong social media presence and grassroots campaign. Meanwhile, Davidson made headlines with his candid comments on past tattoos, some of which were tied to personal struggles. Despite removing most of them, he confirmed keeping a tattoo of Hillary Clinton, whom he admires.
