Netanyahu Discusses Foiled Cockpit Attack on Flight to Tel Aviv

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the recent attack on a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv when he appeared on Fox News. During the interview, Netanyahu praised the courage of the passengers who intervened to subdue an alleged attacker in the cockpit. He specifically credited Yaniv Chayon for his actions in stabilizing the flight.

The incident involved a FlyDubai flight where a pilot allegedly stabbed another pilot and attempted to crash the plane carrying over 100 people. Passengers, including families and 30 children, were prepared for a disaster. Netanyahu admired Chayon’s decisive actions.

The passengers, including 30 children, are already saying their prayers. They know they’re gone from this world.

Netanyahu conveyed his relief that a tragedy was averted, comparing the crisis to an attempt similar to the 9/11 attacks that killed thousands. He met with Chayon on Wednesday to thank him for his bravery in the life-threatening situation.

The incident occurred when the aircraft descended quickly from 30,000 feet to 17,000 feet. The wounded pilot managed to unlock the cockpit door, allowing passengers to enter and control the situation. Netanyahu noted the pilot, identified as Capt. Smit Machchhar, is seriously injured and fighting for his life.

According to Netanyahu, the alleged attacker targeted the crew, motivated by hatred possibly linked to antisemitism. The attacker’s background and motives remain under investigation. Authorities have identified the co-pilot as an Omani national, and he was apprehended after the plane landed in Saudi Arabia.

FlyDubai announced a temporary suspension of flights to and from Israel pending further investigation. The airline’s spokesperson stated that the suspect’s motive is still unknown. Investigators are exploring if others were involved in the attack.

Just think about it… If you’re next hijacked, make sure an Israeli is sitting next to you.

In Netanyahu’s view, the incident demonstrates the severity of fanaticism and hatred that still exists. The Prime Minister underscored the importance of vigilance in preventing such attacks in the future.
