Joe Rogan Critiques Trump’s Immigration Policies and Iran Conflict

Joe Rogan has voiced criticism of President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement policies. In a discussion with British comedians Francis Foster and Konstantin Kisin, co-hosts of the podcast TRIGGERnometry, Rogan warned of masked federal agents detaining individuals, including American citizens. He suggested these actions risk setting dangerous precedents for future administrations.

Rogan, who endorsed Trump in the 2024 presidential election, expressed concerns about the expansion of federal law enforcement powers. He urged Americans to consider the long-term implications of such tactics despite their support for Trump’s immigration agenda. Rogan has gained influence among young male voters, a vital demographic for Trump, especially as midterm elections approached with Republicans trailing in national polling.

Criticism of ICE Tactics

Rogan spoke against militarized police forces targeting people without identification. He voiced concerns over precedent-setting actions, urging consideration of how future administrations might exploit them. He acknowledged support for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in targeting criminal organizations but stressed caution in normalizing aggressive enforcement tactics.

Rogan pointed to groups like Tren de Aragua involved in illegal activities in the U.S. as a reason some support increased ICE action. However, he warned of the societal impact if aggressive tactics become normalized.

Reports of Detained American Citizens

Amid Rogan’s concerns, reports have surfaced about American citizens detained by immigration agents. ProPublica identified over 500 U.S. citizens detained since Trump’s return to office in January 2025. Instances include Leonardo García Venegas, detained in Alabama despite presenting valid identification, and two teenagers detained for recording an ICE operation in Texas. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) disputes these accounts, citing obstruction of operations.

Criticisms of Iran War

Rogan also criticized Trump’s decision to engage in the Iran conflict, arguing it contradicted Trump’s campaign promises to avoid new wars. During a conversation with actor Michael Douglas, Rogan stated Trump’s foreign policy had fallen short of his pledges, specifically questioning the benefits of the Iran War.

Rogan’s Shifting Relationship with Trump

Despite endorsing Trump, Rogan has periodically criticized his policies, including aggressive immigration enforcement. In previous comments, he likened the tactics to the Gestapo and warned about untrained, heavily armed agents. He has also opposed the Iran War, questioning its impact on U.S. interests.

Rogan and Trump’s relationship has complexities, as Rogan participated in a White House event where Trump signed an executive order on psychedelic treatments. Trump acknowledged Rogan’s influence in this policy area.

Rogan’s Influence and Political Landscape

Rogan’s influence was notable in Trump’s 2024 electoral success among young male voters. Trump made significant inroads in this demographic, with his appearance on Rogan’s podcast reaching millions. However, recent polls suggest declining support for Republicans among young men, indicating a challenging environment ahead of the midterms.

As Republican support wanes among key voter groups, Rogan’s criticisms, including those on ICE and the Iran conflict, highlight challenges for Trump and his party in maintaining their previous levels of support.
