A distressing incident occurred at Ford Field on Sunday when linebacker Jack Campbell suffered an injury following a collision during a tackle. Campbell was left motionless, prompting immediate medical attention and removal on an immobilized cart.
Once it was evident that Campbell was in distress, medical personnel quickly took to the field to assist him. Players from both teams showed concern, with many kneeling and some appearing to pray as Campbell received treatment.
The collision happened during the game against the Minnesota Vikings. Vikings’ tight end T.J. Hockenson was tackled by two Lions defenders, including Campbell, who was falling to his knees at the time. His head was positioned upward, making the impact with his facemask more severe.
After the tackle, Campbell’s head and neck compressed into his torso, and he collapsed on the field, remaining unmoving for several minutes. Medical staff took time to ensure Campbell’s safe transport from the field.
The Lions confirmed Campbell was taken to a local hospital for evaluation on a potential neck injury.
Lions Coach Dan Campbell expressed, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Jack and his family. He’s being taken care of. We don’t have any new information. We’ll keep you updated as this goes, but we’re thinking about him.”
This is an ongoing story and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
