On May 22, nearly 1,200 students from the Adlai E. Stevenson High School Class of 2026 graduated at NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates. Eric Twadell, superintendent of Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125 in Lincolnshire, highlighted the class’s philanthropic spirit, a hallmark of Stevenson Patriots. Students celebrated the conclusion of their journey by tossing their mortarboard caps into the air.
Superintendent Twadell applauded the students from the stage, saying, “As a class, you led fundraising efforts that have raised well over $100,000 for local, national, and global causes. You didn’t just grow, you gave. And you gave generously.” He noted the graduates had embodied the school’s portrait of a graduate both in skill and spirit, expressing pride in their accomplishments.
Two seniors gave speeches during the ceremony. Nisa Rao of Riverwoods delivered the Scriptor Address, expressing gratitude to the selfless individuals who contribute to the community. “Thank you all for being a part of my community,” Rao stated. Sanchi Deshpande of Lincolnshire presented the Gubernator Address, encouraging classmates to cherish the journey rather than focus on the end. “We, Patriots, do not skip to the ending. We live the journey because if we knew the ending, it wouldn’t be worth a watch,” Deshpande remarked.
Among the graduates was Joie Goldstein of Buffalo Grove, who expressed pride in being a lifelong Patriot. Proud parent Karthik Pushparaj brought flowers to the ceremony for his son, Aditya Karthik, and expressed his good wishes for his son’s future studies and life. The Torres family from Prairie View supported their graduate, Abigail “Aye Jay” Julianne Torres, with a large poster. “I’m so, so proud of her,” said Jam Torres, recognizing Aye Jay as one of the best things in his life. He anticipated her continued growth into a wonderful young lady. Aye Jay, seated amongst family, thanked them for their sacrifices and support throughout her educational journey.
Photographs from the event captured the unique designs on graduates’ caps and the joyful atmosphere of the occasion.
